First introduced at the 2007 CEDIA Expo, Wisdom Audio’s Sage Series features four speaker configurations, ranging from 20 inches to 75 inches in height, each available as an in-wall, on-wall, or a freestanding solution. Multiple center channels, an in-wall sub enclosure, integrated Audyssey Laboratories™ room correction software, and dedicated electronics round out this latest development from Wisdom Audio, the leader in planar magnetic technologies based in Carson City, Nevada, USA. Sage Series speakers incorporate new generation proprietary thin film planar magnetic drivers, which enable its narrow and shallow physical characteristics, thus offering greater flexibility to customers and custom installers.

To ensure optimal in-room low frequency response, the bi-amplified Sage Series includes dedicated low frequency amplifiers in both the full range speakers and the subwoofer. Respectively, these amplifiers are the SA-3 (3 x 500W), SA-2 (2 x 500W) for full range speakers, and the SA-1 (2 x 500W) for operation of up to two in-wall subwoofers. For each channel, Wisdom Audio has applied an ICEpower500A amplifier. Based on ICEpower® proprietary technologies in switching audio power conversion, these amplifiers deliver power efficiency that surpasses most known amplifier solutions today. Other benefits include supreme musical performance, lower distortion, as well as exceptional compactness and light weight for an amplifier with this high power output. In Wisdom Audio’s SA-2 and SA-3 system amplifiers, each channel can deliver in excess of 500 watts to its associated woofers. The three-channel SA-3 takes up only 3U of rack space, despite its 1,500+ watts of output power.

Being highly experienced in planar magnetic technologies, Wisdom Audio has incorporated its new planar magnetic drivers into the Sage Series. The drivers use costly “rare earth” or neodymium magnets, which provide a vastly stronger magnetic field than conventional magnets, while having to use fewer and smaller magnets to achieve this goal. This difference yields a number of critical improvements delivering a higher quality, more powerful sound, also at lower frequencies, and improved directivity of sound.

The Sage Series in-wall configured enclosures also represent an innovation in installed speaker cabinet design. Each unit includes a full back box, so that the speaker’s acoustical output is confined to its own “cabinet” where each transducer is allowed to perform at its optimum, not left to chance by the varying acoustic environment of a home’s wall structure. Each system is installed with “Uni-Grip™” technology that provides a sonically superior, rigid aluminum frame that can actually reinforce the strength of the wall. The speaker extends only 1/8-inch from the wall and is virtually unrecognizable - an aesthetic feature most people would appreciate when choosing a high performance in-wall speaker solution.
