150ASH7 is an integrated amplifier and power supply solution that utilizes ICEpower’s switching technologies. 150ASH7 delivers the power of 7 x 150W into 8Ω.

The 150ASH7 is a Plug & Play module designed to maximize application convenience for the customers. The solution comes with all the necessary pre-approvals, including THX Select2 , and is developed for easy implementation in standard 43 cm (17") wide cabinets.

The integrated design and compact, low profile form factor of the 150ASH7 open up a world of new design opportunities for home theater audio applications. The overall weight and complexity of the amplifier section is dramatically reduced, mainly by eliminating the massive transformer and the bulky heat sinks normally required by class AB amplifiers.

The efficiency of ICEpower150ASH7 exceeds 90% in both amplifier and power supply sections. This eliminates the notorious heat problems in traditional AV receiver and AV amplifier designs and ensures cool and reliable performance, raising the bar in home theater experience.

We are quite proud of the fact that ICEpower was one of the first companies that pioneered the audio industry’s change from analogue technologies to highly efficient switching technologies, which brought about a true paradigm shift in the industry. Our technologies have raised the efficiency of the amplifier and power supply sections of the audio power conversion chain from 50-70% (possible with analogue technologies) to 80-95%, meaning that up to 10 times less energy is now wasted – making audio devices “greener”.

Superior Audio Performance

True to ICEpower's tradition, 150ASH7 delivers high quality audio performance, added by the THX Select2 compliance.

Through the 3rd generation of ICEpower technologies, we have secured key performance advancements including an extended bandwidth of 120kHz and a full 20kHz power bandwidth, which are unique to switching amplification.

Through the use of ICEpower’s HCOM modulator topology, the 150ASH7 offers excellent dynamic range and a distortion of only 0.003% THD+N at 5W, 1kHz. The ultra low output impedance architecture secures a flat frequency response. Any speaker load is tightly controlled and the 150ASH7 solution is essentially unaffected by loudspeaker impedance.


Application convenience

Integrating switching power electronics into audio products introduces a range of challenges, particularly in AV Receivers. EMC-issues, AM/FM tuner compatibility and general performance degradation require unique specialist competences and significant R&D effort.

ICEpower150ASH7 solves these complex issues by offering an integrated amplifier and power supply solution on a single board. This novel design approach ensures a smooth and easy application of the module by our customers, supported by the advanced feature set and the availability of all the relevant EMC and safety pre-approvals.

150ASH7 contains an on-board heat sink. Therefore, the solution is fully self-contained, both mechanically and thermally, and is delivered ready for mounting in a standard 43 cm (17") chassis. The 150ASH7 carries switchable mains to accommodate for electrical mains worldwide.

The switch-mode power supply has been optimized for home theater use: a special control loop has been implemented for communicating power level between power supply and the amplifier. Further, the 150ASH7 is designed for easy and tidy signal routing in a typical AVR or home theater amplifier.

The solution contains diagnostic interface made for easy integration with the AVR’s micro controller, where the information such as temperature and amplifier protection status can be read.

Finally, the 150ASH7 incorporates extensive protection schemes, which have been integrated to secure optimal reliability through development, testing and most importantly, through the years of operation in our customers’ products.



ICEpower® Technology Highlights

Several of ICEpower’s technology breakthroughs have been introduced in the solution:

The ICEpower® Supply section includes the key innovation of the new Zero Voltage / Zero Current Switching SMPS topology with a fully integrated Adaptive Supply Pump Cancellation (ASPC). The result is the significantly improved quality of power supply; as well as virtual elimination of the well-known power supply pumping phenomenon and with that, the need for large secondary buffering capacitors. This new technology has helped us to drive audio quality, efficiency, power density and the Watt/USD ratio up.

ICEpower150ASH7 employs the third generation of ICEpower’s proprietary HCOM modulator topology which, in combination with the MECC feedback architecture, enhances the critical performance parameters.

150ASH7 adapts a ground-referenced SE amplifier output stages topology for increased flexibility and ICEpower® silicon ASIC integration of the Amplifier stage.

Customization


For volume orders by the customers looking for particular differentiation, we offer to develop customized solutions. Our technology portfolio is highly flexible and allows for customization of audio specifications, power output, number of channels, feature set and more.

Customization may also include integration of customer-specific interfacing, sound tuning, customized AUX supply, preamplifiers, etc.

The customized solutions may be manufactured by ICEpower and delivered as finished modules, or alternatively, may be manufactured by the customer under a license agreement with ICEpower.
